The River flows past Lambeth Palace and heads north to Westminster Bridge and passes the Palace of Westminster (Houses of Parliament). This Palace is known throughout the world from the large four faced clock - Big Ben and the peel of the bells it contains, Big Ben being one of the bells. The Palace is where the two Houses of the Parliament of the United Kingdom (the House of Lords and the House of Commons) meet which are close to the government buildings of Whitehall.
