Single family homes in the South Bay area of Los Angeles appreciated at an effective annual rate of six percent from 2000 through October of 2009. Interestingly, the number of homes selling has dropped dramatically over this same period. The percentage of homes selling for less than $1 M has shifted from over 80 percent to under 45 percent.
